Imani Winds

Meany Theater was the host venue for Imani Winds, a wind quintet with a recent CD out titled "The Classical Underground". I liked being on the UW campus. I liked hearing live music. I loved being with Michelle. No, I wouldn't go hear them again. Give me strings and harmony. Give me Joshua.

Did you know there's a movie titled "Stacy"?

It's also known as "Stacy: Attack of the Schoolgirl Zombies". Looks horrible. Don't tell my mom. She'll be disappointed.

County Donegal was the answer to today's Geo Quiz on The World. I've been there! I love it when that happens.

Trend Setter

Just for the record, Jordan stole that tongue thing from me.

Mad Hot Ballroom

This is a documentary that follows 3 groups of New York City 5th graders through a mandatory 10 week dance program in their public schools. It is the best film I've seen this year and is running as part of the Seattle International Film Festival. You needn't be a fan of dance or Frank Sinatra to be enraptured by this story. The students are what make the movie a delight to watch. The work of director and producer Marilyn Agrelo in capturing these moments and presenting them the way she has is pure genius.

Me & You & Everyone We Know

Attendance at opening night of the The Seattle International Film Festival was a perfect cross section of Seattleites; some wearing sleveless black silk dress, some wearing baggy shorts and socks with sandals. The film was Me & You & Everyone We Know by Miranda July. She wrote, directed and starred in the movie. Miranda is a young, quirky, talented multimedia artist and I am more than a little envious.

Though slow at times and a tad over done on the "everyday drama of human life" aspect, the movie is worth seeing. Warning: not for conservatives.
